Moscow court bans sale of Red Book otters
The Khoroshevsky District Court of Moscow granted the prosecutor's claim and banned websites with advertisements for the sale of otters listed in the Red Book of Russia. This was confirmed on October 27 by the case materials reviewed by Izvestia.
The resources did not require registration and were publicly available — anyone could purchase otters.
The court noted that such ads promote the illegal trafficking of rare species of animals and violate people's rights to a favorable environment.
On October 22, the Tverskoy Court of the capital granted the appeal of the prosecutor's office and banned resources for the sale of caiman turtles, wolves and bison. Now it is allowed to keep such animals only in zoos, circuses or zoo gardens.
