The TV premiere of the series "Smashing Ray" will take place on the REN TV channel on November 3.

The plot of the series takes place in the USSR in the 70s. Kim Nikanorov (Ivan Kolesnikov), a talented physicist in the past, and now a successful currency speculator, gets into the dangerous game of two intelligence agencies – the KGB and the CIA. The Americans are trying to penetrate the secrets of the laboratory of Nobel laureate Nikolai Basov (Evgeny Kharitonov), which develops lasers for missile defense. KGB Colonel Valentin Simagin (Kirill Grebenshchikov) recruits Kim in order to establish a channel of disinformation about the laboratory's activities. Kim is again employed by Basov and helps him establish contacts with a CIA resident. Everything goes according to the KGB's plan, until Kim encounters a very experienced and sophisticated opponent, a CIA agent with the call sign Leonardo (Daria Moroz). She is sure that Kim is a figurehead for the KGB...

In the series "Striking Ray" we are talking about the use of a laser for the purposes of the military-industrial complex. In our spy detective story, a human drama is at the center of events, the main character finds himself in a situation where he is forced to become a double agent. This is a story about a difficult choice," says director Alexei Muradov about the project.
