Zakharova noted the negative consequences of sanctions for the West
By imposing sanctions, Western countries sought to "break up" Russia, but they "broke up" themselves. This was stated on October 27 by the official representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry, Maria Zakharova, on the sidelines of the Made in Russia forum.
"To begin with, they wanted to "break up" us, but they "broke up" themselves. Look at the economic indicators of the European Union. They speak for themselves," the diplomat said in an interview with TASS in response to statements by some Western politicians about Russia's allegedly torn to shreds economy.
Zakharova added that the current number of anti-Russian sanctions restrictions is about 30,000, but the Russian economy has managed to adapt and continue to grow.
In addition, according to her, unilateral sanctions have become an additional incentive for more active and systematic work in the following areas: the formation of an independent financial infrastructure from Western countries, the renewal of production and distribution chains, the search for opportunities for import substitution and strengthening technological independence.
On October 22, the US Treasury Department announced the imposition of sanctions against Russian oil companies Rosneft and Lukoil. Later, on October 23, Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova called the new restrictive measures against oil companies counterproductive.
On October 23, the head of the European Diplomacy, Kaya Kallas, announced that the EU had adopted the 19th package of sanctions against Russia. She noted that the restrictions are aimed, in particular, at Russian banks, cryptocurrency exchanges, organizations in India and China. At the same time, the European Union will restrict the movement of Russian diplomats.
