- Khabarovsk residents were given a suspended sentence for catching walleye on the Amur
In the Khabarovsk Territory, two local residents were sentenced for illegal fishing. The damage from their actions was estimated at about 130 thousand rubles.
According to IA AmurMedia with reference to the Far Eastern Transport Prosecutor's Office, in January, two Khabarovsk residents illegally obtained 38 specimens of walleye. They used a fishing net, fished through an ice hole in the Amur River near the Kalmin Islands.
The violators were found guilty under the article of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation "Illegal extraction of aquatic biological resources with causing major damage by a group of persons by prior agreement." The court sentenced them to imprisonment for 2 years and 6 months, suspended with a probation period of 2 years. The fishing net and other fishing tools will be destroyed.
In early October, it was reported that the Meshchansky District Court of Moscow banned websites selling devices for poaching fish. We are talking about sites where they offered to purchase electric rods — devices that supply an electric discharge into the water, killing fish and all living organisms within its radius of action. The relevant announcements were posted in the public domain.
