The Times has learned about the weak coordination of UK intelligence services
The UK's special intelligence services MI5 and MI6, as well as the Government Communications Headquarters (GCHQ), have poor interagency coordination. This is evidenced by the report of Nick Timothy, ex-adviser to the British Prime Minister, which The Times newspaper cites on October 26.
"There is a gap between the work of the National Security Council <...> and the work performed in the departments that control the security and intelligence agencies," the article says.
The author of the report stressed that these structures need to "improve and integrate" accountability so that the services can cooperate in ensuring national security.
The Sun newspaper reported on September 29 that prisoners were accidentally released from British prisons. In 12 months, from March 2024 to March 2025, the penitentiary service mistakenly released 262 people.
