An interagency group led by the Kenyan Navy intercepted a ship carrying narcotic substances worth 8.2 billion Kenyan shillings ($63.4 million) and arrested six Iranian citizens. This was announced on October 26 by Kenya's state-owned media company Kenya Broadcasting Corporation (KBC), citing sources.

According to the Office of Criminal Investigation (DCI), the operation took place approximately 630 km off the coast of Mombasa during a routine patrol in the Indian Ocean. The military intercepted a vessel carrying more than 1,000 kg of narcotic substances.

Law enforcement officers detained six people. They are currently in custody. An investigation is underway to determine the origin of the drugs.

The head of the German Federal Criminal Police Department (BKA), Holger Munch, presenting a new report on organized crime activities, said on October 25 that drug cartels had found new ways to transport cocaine to Europe, hiding the drug in the supply of fruit juice and spices. According to him, the drug is hidden in such a way that it cannot be detected during checks at ports or airports.
