The German government will enter into negotiations with the United States over sanctions against Russian oil refineries. This was reported by the Bild newspaper on October 26, citing sources.

According to the newspaper, German officials claim that the refineries located in the country are in no way connected with Russia.

"The Federal government is trying to make an exception for oil refineries, as it recently succeeded with British sanctions," says Jan Redman, leader of the Brandenburg Christian Democratic Union.

He noted that gas stations and airports in the eastern part of Germany depend on the fuel produced by Russian companies.

The Financial Times newspaper reported on October 24 that the German government had asked the United States to ease sanctions against subsidiaries of the Russian oil company Rosneft located on German territory. It was clarified that we are talking about three strategic refineries.
