The persimmon season has begun at Moscow fairs
Fresh persimmons have appeared at the capital's fairs. It is imported from Crimea, Krasnodar Territory and Dagestan. This was reported on the official website of the Mayor of Moscow on Sunday, October 26.
Farmers said that popular varieties are being brought to the capital: "korolek", "honey", "tomato", "fig" and "candle". The astringency of fruits is related to tannins, which disappear as they ripen. Unripe persimmons can be ripened at home: put next to apples, freeze for half a day or soak in warm water. With strong astringency, farmers recommend drying — this way the fruit will become sweet.
Persimmon is rich in beta-carotene, potassium and fiber, and supports heart and digestive health. It is eaten fresh or used in dishes — baked, stewed, sauces are prepared, writes "Moscow 24".
Products are delivered to the fairs from more than 40 regions of Russia. All goods are checked, and places for farmers are provided free of charge, according to the Moscow City News agency.
Earlier that day, nutritionist Ekaterina Guzman revealed the beneficial properties of persimmons. According to her, the value of the fruit is in antioxidants — carotenoids and polyphenols, which reduce the risk of inflammation and cancer, writes Life.ru .
On October 21, gastroenterologist Evgeny Belousov emphasized the value of persimmon for the cardiovascular system. The doctor noted that the fruit is rich in potassium, magnesium, antioxidants, vitamins A, C and B, as well as fiber, which supports digestion and lowers cholesterol. 360.ru .

According to her, persimmon is contraindicated for people with gastrointestinal diseases and is not suitable for baby food. In large quantities, it can cause disorders even in healthy people, NSN notes.
