The Louvre robbery has become a symbol of the accumulated difficulties of French President Emmanuel Macron. This was reported on October 26 by the New York Times.

"The robbery highlighted his plight. It became the icing on his (Macron's) cake. — Ed.) accumulated problems," the publication says.

The fact that the Louvre was the place chosen by Macron eight years ago to celebrate his election victory "with great fanfare" has increased the sense of dashed hopes of the French people, the newspaper noted. The New York Times emphasized that Macron's popularity is currently at its lowest level in history.

French Minister of Culture Rachida Dati announced the Louvre robbery on October 19. On the same day, the newspaper Le Parisien learned about the discovery near the scene of the robbery of the broken crown of the wife of Emperor Napoleon III Eugenie, which, among other decorations, was exhibited in the gallery "Apollo".

The Louvre opened its doors to visitors three days after the robbery. Four days later, experts determined that a security guard was involved in the robbery.

On October 26, one suspect was arrested in connection with the Louvre robbery at the Roissy—Charles de Gaulle airport in Paris. In total, four suspects are wanted for the robbery.
