US President Donald Trump has signed a trade agreement with Cambodia, as well as a mineral supply agreement with Thailand. This was reported by the BBC on October 26.

"We carry out numerous transactions with both countries while they live in peace," Trump said during the summit of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN), which was broadcast on the White House YouTube channel.

It is noted that the administration of the American leader will use trade agreements as a key way of diplomatic pressure on countries in order to conclude peace.

The American president stressed that the process of concluding trade deals should be used to prevent military conflicts.

The cease-fire between Thailand and Cambodia in July this year occurred shortly after Trump's warning that a military conflict between the countries would jeopardize their trade agreements with the United States on tariffs, according to the material.

Earlier in the day, Trump said that a peace deal between Thailand and Cambodia could save millions of lives. The Prime Ministers of Thailand and Cambodia, Anuthin Chanvirakun and Hun Manet, signed a peace agreement on the sidelines of the ASEAN summit in the presence of Trump. According to the American leader, 18 captured Cambodian soldiers will be released as part of the settlement. Trump clarified that Malaysia will become an observer of the ceasefire between Cambodia and Thailand.
