The owner of two stars on the Hollywood Walk of Fame, actress June Lockhart, who gained fame for her role as Ruth Martin in the 1956 American TV series Lassie, died at the age of 100 in Santa Monica, California. This was reported by People magazine on October 25.
The publication clarified that the actress died on October 23. It was noted that the winner of the Tony Award, awarded annually for achievements in the field of American theater, died of natural causes, surrounded by her family. The funeral of the actress will be held in a closed format.
Lockhart was born on June 25, 1925, into a family of actors — Canadian Gene Lockhart and Englishwoman Kathleen Lockhart — so her film career began in childhood. The first film in which she starred at the age of eight was the film A Christmas Carol, made in 1938 based on the novel of the same name by Charles Dickens.
