In Valencia, thousands of people took to the streets to protest against the head of the Generalitat Carlos Mason in connection with the floods in the country a year ago. This was reported on October 25 by the newspaper El Pais with reference to a document from the government delegation in Valencia.

"More than 50,000 people took part in the demonstration in Valencia," the article says.

According to information from the newspaper, the participants of the rally demanded the resignation of Mason. The reason for the residents' discontent was the ineffective response of the authorities to last year's hurricane, which claimed the lives of 229 people.

It is specified that the mass protest began in St. Augustine Square. The organizers were more than 200 leftist organizations in Valencia, including public, social and trade union associations, as well as associations of victims of the hurricane and local disaster relief committees.

"We do not recognize or legitimize Mason as president [of the Generalitat], because on the 29th he was not where he was supposed to be," said Rosa Alvarez, head of the Association of Hurricane Victims and a participant in the rally.

On October 29, 2024, heavy rains hit Spain, which led to floods. Seven people are missing. The danger level was set to "red" in Valencia and "orange" in Andalusia. Catalan authorities have warned residents about the risk of hail and tornadoes in the vicinity of Barcelona province.

Later, on October 30 of the same year, it was reported that the number of victims of the storm in Valencia in eastern Spain, which was accompanied by heavy rains and caused flooding, increased to 62 people. It was clarified that rescuers were engaged in dismantling rubble in the regions. Hundreds of military personnel were involved in the work.

Spanish Transport Minister Oscar Puente announced on November 8 that the death toll in Spain as a result of the floods had risen to 223. According to him, 78 people are missing, 48 dead have not yet been identified.

In Madrid and Valencia, thousands of people took to the streets on November 9 to protest against the Spanish government over the floods. It was reported that the protesters opposed Mason, demanding his resignation due to the devastating effects of the floods in the country. Residents also paid tribute to the victims of the tragedy at the rally.
