On October 25, the Russian Embassy in Cuba warned Russian tourists about the deterioration of weather conditions due to the formation of tropical storm Melissa, which is capable of intensifying to the hurricane category.

"According to the local Institute of Meteorology, tropical storm Melissa has formed and is gaining strength in the Caribbean Sea, which may become a hurricane this weekend," the Telegram channel said.

It is specified that on October 28 and 29, Melissa may pass over the eastern regions of Cuba: through the provinces of Guantanamo, Santiago de Cuba, Granma, Holguin, Las Tunas and Camaguey. The main tourist centers are safe, including the city of Varadero.

Cuban Prime Minister Marrero announced on September 30 that two people had died in Cuba as a result of Hurricane Imelda. The provinces of Guantanamo Bay and Santiago de Cuba were particularly affected, where heavy rains caused significant damage.
