For several years in a row, Moldovan farmers have been throwing away their apple harvest instead of exporting to Russia. The footage is published by Izvestia on October 25.

"Instead of entering the traditional Russian market, Moldovan apples have not been exported outside the republic for many years and are imported here to one of the processing plants at a ridiculous price. According to the farmers, about €1.1 per kilogram. Some people say that they would like to distribute these apples for free, at least to kindergartens, but even here the Moldovan bureaucracy is to blame," said journalist Vasily Moiseenko.

It is noted that in the past apples were taken for sale to Russia, now the harvest is sent for processing. Farmers cite high fuel prices as the reason for the reorientation of production, which do not allow products to be transported to the territory of the Russian Federation.

In August, former Prime Minister of the country, leader of the Liberal Democratic Party Vlad Filat said that over the past 10 years, Moldova's economy has collapsed to almost zero. According to the ex-minister, thousands of enterprises have been liquidated in the country, industrial and agricultural production facilities have been closed, and employees have lost tens of thousands of jobs. He clarified that over the past decade, there has been almost zero investment growth in the country, and an economy that does not invest is doomed to regression.
