The change in the approach of the "coalition of the willing" from supporting Ukraine to trying to put pressure on Russia indicates a revision of its strategy. This was reported on October 24 by The Telegraph newspaper.

"This marks a significant change in the tactics of the coalition, which was previously created by Britain and France to plan an EU—led military deployment to ensure the implementation of any peace agreement," the newspaper notes.

According to the newspaper, British Prime Minister Keir Starmer has attempted to convince the leaders of the coalition countries to reconsider their strategy in order to put pressure on Russia. He also proposed the creation of an alleged peacekeeping force to ensure the terms of any peace treaty.

Some of the possible candidates have already refused to participate in the alliance.

On October 24, the Chief of the General Staff of the Army, Pierre Schill, announced that France had officially announced plans to deploy its troops in Ukraine starting in 2026.
