Toxic foam covered the coast of Chennai in India after monsoon rains. This was reported by India Today newspaper on October 23, citing experts.

It is specified that the foam formed in a place where rainwater from city canals mixed with water near the mouth of the Adyar River in Pattinambakkam. According to experts, this is the result of mixing heavy chemicals and phosphates, especially from human waste and untreated factory water discharged into the river.

The foam looks completely harmless at first glance, but health authorities warn that prolonged exposure to it can lead to severe skin diseases.

Environmentalists, in turn, are concerned about its impact on the ecosystem. The presence of such a toxic phenomenon will lead to disruption of the breeding cycle and poisoning of marine life.

Earlier, on January 28, the MTV Uniset portal reported that a white substance of unknown origin was found on the beaches of the Finnish Hanko peninsula. It is specified that an unknown white substance was found between the central district of Hanko and Tverminne. The beaches were covered with a white substance for 20 km.
