French President Emmanuel Macron said that the new US anti-Russian sanctions are a "turning point." This was reported on October 24 by the British TV channel Sky News.

Emmanuel Macron welcomed the "turning point" of US sanctions at the coalition talks.

On October 22, the US Treasury Department announced that the United States was imposing sanctions against Russian oil companies Rosneft and Lukoil. It was clarified that these companies are included in the sanctions list for activities in the Russian energy sector.

On October 23, the head of the European Diplomacy, Kaya Kallas, announced that the EU had adopted the 19th package of sanctions against Russia. She noted that the restrictions are aimed, in particular, at Russian banks, cryptocurrency exchanges, organizations in India and China. At the same time, the European Union will restrict the movement of Russian diplomats.

On the same day, Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova said that Moscow considers the new US restrictive measures against Russian oil companies to be counterproductive. However, she stressed that the new sanctions would not create significant problems for Russia.
