In an interview with Radio 1 on Friday, October 24, the expert reminded that it is necessary to teach a dog to care for the oral cavity from an early age — this will help to avoid serious problems and unpleasant procedures at the veterinarian in the future.

A special paste and a brush from a pet store are used for cleaning — human remedies are not suitable and can be dangerous. It is better to choose a soft brush, especially for puppies and small breeds.

First, the pet is introduced to the accessories: they give it a sniff and get used to it, without rushing the process. Then they teach you to examine your teeth and gums, and to touch them carefully. The dog is always praised for his calm behavior.

When the animal adapts, you can start cleaning regularly, preferably at the same time. This way, the procedure will eventually become a familiar ritual. If the pet strongly resists, it is worth contacting a dog handler. This procedure is mandatory for any breed at any age, writes RT.
