Bloomberg learned about Witkoff's request to Zelensky to recognize Donbass as Russian
The special envoy of the American leader Donald Trump, Steve Witkoff, persuaded the President of Ukraine, Vladimir Zelensky, to recognize Donbass as Russian. This was reported by Bloomberg on October 24, citing sources.
"During Trump's meeting with Zelensky last week, Witkoff again persuaded the president of Ukraine to agree to [Russian President Vladimir] Putin's demands. Putin ceded Donbass to Russia," the article says.
In addition, the publication noted that US Secretary of State Marco Rubio would like a meeting between Trump and Putin to take place.
Earlier, on October 21, it was reported that during a meeting with Zelensky, Trump showed perseverance, demanding from him a quick agreement to resolve the conflict. The New York Times newspaper reported on the same day that the American leader advised Zelensky to agree to the transfer of territory, which, however, as noted in the text, the Ukrainian side did not support.
On October 17, Trump also noted that Kiev was losing in the conflict and called on the president of Ukraine to immediately conclude peace, warning that otherwise the situation could become catastrophic for him. The American leader also expressed hope for the end of the conflict in Ukraine without the transfer of Tomahawk.
