The subsidence of the soil at the site of the sinkhole on the tunnel collector in the Vyborg district of St. Petersburg has been stabilized. This was announced on October 24 by the press service of the city administration on its website.
"In the area of technological disruption at the tunnel collector in the Vyborg district of St. Petersburg, by 3 p.m. on October 24, it was possible to stabilize the subsidence of the excavation walls and the surrounding area around house No. 20/29 on 1st Murinsky Ave.," the message says.
It is noted that the process of installing the fence was accelerated by plunging the tongue and groove from two sides simultaneously using two special installations. To protect against rainwater, the walls of the excavation were covered with waterproof material.
In addition, the installation of the bypass line of the collector in two lines is continuing, which will allow for the pumping of wastewater during the construction of the backup line. According to the administration, specialists in the field of geodesy and metro engineering are working on site, more than 30 units of special equipment are involved.
On October 21, it was reported that residents of one of the multi-storey buildings located on Khromova Street in St. Petersburg were evacuated due to asphalt subsidence. According to the residents, they were given a little time to collect the documents. The governor of St. Petersburg, Alexander Beglov, headed the operational center for the elimination of the failure.
