A resident of Minusinsk was sentenced for the murder of an elderly couple
A court in the Krasnoyarsk Territory has sentenced a 35-year-old resident of Minusinsk for double murder, unlawful imprisonment, theft and car theft. This is reported by the regional prosecutor's office and the GSU TFR in the Krasnoyarsk Territory and the Republic of Khakassia.
The murder occurred on March 3, 2025, in a house on Timiryazeva Street in Minusinsk, where the defendant's wife lived. The man tried to get into the apartment, but no one answered him. Then he knocked on the door of the neighbors, an elderly couple who knew him well. The pensioners allowed the guest to enter the apartment and invited him to the table.
"During the conversation, the man heard a noise in the entrance and, going to the front door, saw police officers through the peephole. The day before, he and his friend committed extortion and ended up on the wanted list. Wanting to avoid meeting with law enforcement officers, the suspect decided to escape through the balcony," the prosecutor's office said in a statement.
However, the pensioners opposed this decision, and he tied the woman's hands with duct tape. Her husband, who noticed this, rushed to help. A scuffle began, during which the guest stabbed the hostess of the house with a stationery knife, and her husband with scissors. The pensioners died on the spot. The man took his mobile phone, money and car keys, which he used to get to Krasnoyarsk. He was detained there.
According to the detainee, he did not intend to kill the pensioners, but they actively resisted, writes KrasnoyarskMedia news agency.
The court found the resident of Minusinsk guilty under clauses "a, b" of part 2 of Article 105 ("Murder of two persons performing a public duty"), part 3 of Article 30, paragraph "g" of part 2 of Article 127 ("Attempt to unlawfully imprison two persons"), paragraph "c" of Part 2 of art. 158 ("Theft causing significant damage to a citizen"), Part 1 of Article 166 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation ("Car theft").
The court sentenced him to 23 years of imprisonment with one and a half years of restriction of liberty. He must spend five of them in prison, and the remaining 18 years in a high—security penal colony. The injured party's civil claim for a total of 4 million rubles has also been satisfied. The verdict has not yet entered into legal force.
