Most Russians face interference during telephone conversations due to extraneous noise. According to the results of an MTS survey, 91% of participants admitted that they had to interrupt a conversation because of noises on their side or the other person's side. This was reported by the MTS press service.

45% of respondents noted that they often have to talk on the phone in noisy places, and for 43% of respondents, noise becomes a serious problem during communication.

At the same time, most Russians do not use the noise reduction feature built into modern smartphones and instant messengers. 61% of the respondents do not know about the presence of such a function, and only 21% of the study participants configured it.

The survey involved 1.5 thousand people aged 18 and older living in Russia in settlements of various sizes, including cities with a population of one million.

"According to the results of the study, almost half of our subscribers use gadget models without the built-in noise reduction option. Our goal is to provide clear sound in voice calls, regardless of the conditions, while providing the default noise reduction, without having to run any settings manually," commented Pavel Voronin, CEO of MTS Web Services.

MTS noted that the company has launched an AI noise reduction function in a pilot mode in a voice communication channel based on AI TelcoMixer technology developed by MTS Web Services (MWS). The solution works on the operator's network and recognizes in real time a variety of sounds in the background of speech, including third-party conversations, wind, signals from construction equipment, transport and other noise, and suppresses them.

"This is another step by MTS in implementing the company's strategy to introduce AI technologies into communications infrastructure and services. By the end of the year, we are preparing to launch a number of other technological solutions that are unique to the Russian telecom market. This is how we are gradually changing the Russian telecom, filling it with new technologies, and therefore with opportunities for subscribers," said MTS CEO Inessa Galaktionova.
