The Chairman of the Central Bank of Russia, Elvira Nabiullina, stressed the importance for the Central Bank of the Russian Federation of reducing inflation in the country, noting at the same time a decrease in inflation expectations among citizens. She announced this on October 24 at a meeting of the Board of Directors of the Bank of Russia on the key rate, answering a question from Izvestia.

"People's expectations that inflation will be high will decrease if only people see that prices in stores are not constantly rising. If they grow, no matter what we say, people will have high inflation expectations. Therefore, it is fundamentally important for us to continue reducing inflation," she said.
