Germany has protested to China over the ban on the export of microchips
Berlin has sent a diplomatic note to Beijing over the ban on the supply of Chinese microchips to Europe. This was reported by the Bild newspaper on October 24.
According to German Minister of Economy and Energy Katerina Reiche, the government has not yet been able to solve the problem of the shortage of chips.
"We have suffered greatly from the shortage of chips, as the German economy depends on them," the minister told the newspaper, as quoted by TASS.
Reiche stressed that an "early de-escalation" and resumption of chip exports were needed, so the German government sent a protest note to the Chinese commerce minister.
CNBC reported on October 13 that the Dutch government has established control over the Chinese chip manufacturer Nexperia due to rising tensions in global trade. It clarifies that such a decision was made to prevent circumstances in which the goods produced by the company "will become unavailable in an emergency situation."
On October 23, China protested to Europe over the inclusion of Chinese companies in the 19th package of anti-Russian sanctions. Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesman Guo Jiakun said China would take all necessary measures to protect its legitimate interests.
