The United States and China are one step away from war, and their military confrontation has escalated. This was reported on October 24 by The New York Times (NYT).

According to published information, the number of interceptions between the air and naval forces of China, the United States and American allies has increased dramatically in recent years.

It clarifies that a number of incidents in the future may escalate into a real conflict, caused by the lack of reliable communication systems between the American and Chinese armed forces. It is noted that this could defuse an unintended crisis.

The publication points to the efforts of US President Donald Trump and Chinese President Xi Jinping to conclude a trade deal between the countries, which aims to "lay the foundations for sustainable crisis management systems."

In turn, at the end of September, China hinted at its readiness to cooperate to establish closer military relations with the United States, the publication clarifies.

On October 20, Trump said he expected to reach a fair trade deal between the United States and China at an early meeting with Xi Jinping. The American leader noted that the leaders have very good relations. At the upcoming meeting, he promised to "talk about a lot," after which he recalled the successes in dialogues with Japan, South Korea and Europe.
