Syria and Palestine may become SCO partners
Several Arab countries intend to become partners of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO), said Bakhtiyor Khakimov, Special Representative of the President of the Russian Federation for SCO affairs.
"A number of Arab states claim the status of SCO partner states: Syria, Palestine, Morocco, Algeria. These issues are being discussed," Khakimov said.
Currently, Azerbaijan, Armenia, Bahrain, Egypt, Cambodia, Qatar, Kuwait, Laos, Maldives, Myanmar, Nepal, the United Arab Emirates, Saudi Arabia, Turkey, Sri Lanka have the status of partner states.
On October 2, Russian President Vladimir Putin spoke about the growing authority of the SCO in the world. He also called the BRICS member countries natural partners united by a common idea of "building relationships to find mutually acceptable solutions."
