In St. Petersburg, a pensioner gave 1.3 million rubles to fraudsters.
In St. Petersburg, an 85-year-old pensioner answered a call from scammers who introduced themselves as law enforcement officers, and lost 1.3 million rubles, following their advice. This was announced on October 24 by a source of Izvestia.
"The scammers processed the Petersburger for four days. They said that intruders were encroaching on the woman's savings, and convinced her of the need to "secure" the funds," the source said.
The pensioner agreed to a meeting with couriers and handed over 1.3 million rubles to strangers in a few days. A criminal case has been opened into the incident.
Earlier, on October 9, in the Anzhero-Sudzhensky city district, an unknown person tricked a 91-year-old pensioner into handing over 500 thousand rubles for an expert examination. It was clarified that the fraudster, posing as a law enforcement officer, convinced the pensioner that criminals had taken possession of her personal data and were using them for illegal transfers. He informed her that she could be criminally liable and advised her to hand over all the money. The woman believed the attacker and handed over her savings.
