The criminal case on the explosion at an enterprise in Kopeisk, Chelyabinsk region, was transferred to the central office of the Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation. This was announced on October 24 by the press service of the department.
"Chairman of the Investigative Committee of Russia (Alexander Bastrykin. — Ed.) instructed to transfer the criminal case on the incident at an enterprise in the Chelyabinsk region to the central office of the department," reads a statement posted on the Telegram channel.
It also notes that investigators, criminologists and experts from the central office of the Investigative Committee will consider this incident, classified in accordance with Part 3 of Article 217 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation ("Violations of industrial safety requirements for hazardous production facilities that negligently resulted in the death of two or more persons").
It is emphasized that during the investigative measures all the circumstances of the incident will be established.
A criminal case into the explosion that occurred on October 22 at an enterprise in Kopeisk was opened on October 23. On the same day, it became known that 12 people were killed and 19 others were injured in the tragedy.
The Governor of the Chelyabinsk Region, Alexei Texler, declared Friday, October 24, a day of mourning. According to him, flags will be lowered at half-mast throughout the region on this day, and cultural institutions and broadcasting companies will cancel entertainment events.
