- EU representatives have allocated €20.5 billion to Ukraine for external budget financing
The member states of the European Union (EU) have allocated €20.5 billion for external budget financing to Kiev and intend to continue providing it with financial support in the coming year. This is evidenced on October 23 by a statement published on the website of the EU Council following the summit with the participation of President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky.
"The EU will continue to provide Ukraine with regular and predictable financial support. <...> In 2025, the EU provided €20.5 billion to the budget of Ukraine," the document says.
It also emphasizes that €6.5 billion of this amount was allocated as part of the Fund for Ukraine, and another €14 billion was allocated as part of the G7 ERA initiative, according to which funds received from excess profits from immobilized Russian assets are sent to Kiev.
In total, as noted in the text, since the beginning of the conflict, the EU has allocated €177.5 billion to support Kiev. In addition, the statement clarifies that the alliance "undertakes to meet the urgent financial needs" of Ukraine in 2026-2027.
Hungarian Foreign Minister Peter Szijjarto announced on October 1 that Brussels had prepared a seven-year budget, which focused not on the member states of this political association, but on Kiev. According to him, the EU leaders decided to focus on financing the Ukrainian army and the Ukrainian state, which Budapest refuses to participate in.
