Putin questioned Trump's advisers after sanctions on Russian oil
Russian President Vladimir Putin said on October 23 that it was worth considering who people from the administration of American leader Donald Trump were working for, who were telling him decisions on sanctions against Russian oil.
"If we take into account the domestic political calendar of the same States, it is clear how sensitive some processes will be in this regard. And those who suggest such decisions to the current administration need to understand who they are working for," Putin told reporters.
The Russian leader also noted that these restrictions would lead to higher prices for petroleum products, including in the United States.
On October 22, the US Treasury Department announced that the United States was imposing sanctions against Russian oil companies Rosneft and Lukoil. It was clarified that these companies are included in the sanctions list for activities in the Russian energy sector.
On the same day, Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova said that Moscow considers the new US restrictive measures against Russian oil companies to be counterproductive. At the same time, she stressed that the new sanctions would not create significant problems for Russia.
