On October 23, the official representative of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation, Maria Zakharova, commented on the news that Russian athletes would miss the 2026 Paralympics.

"Nazism," she said in an interview with the newspaper Sport-Express.

The 2026 Winter Paralympics will be held in Milan and Cortina d'Ampezzo from March 6 to March 15, 2026.

Earlier that day, the press service of the International Paralympic Committee announced that Russian athletes would not participate in the 2026 Paralympic Games. It is noted that the participation of athletes from the Russian Federation is impossible due to the lack of opportunity to qualify for the competition.

Pavel Rozhkov, head of the Russian Paralympic Committee (RPC), in turn, said that the organization would fight for the participation of athletes from the Russian Federation in the Paralympics, despite the lack of opportunities for athletes to qualify.
