Nutritionist gave tips on storing nuts
Nutritionist and nutritionist Roman Pristansky told how to store nuts properly.
In an interview with Radio 1 on Thursday, October 23, the expert noted that all nuts differ in the composition of macro- and microelements, but at the same time they are a valuable source of fats, polyunsaturated fatty acids and protein. He stressed that these fats serve as a structural element of the body and are involved in the production of many hormones. At the same time, their main feature is their high calorie content: 1 g of fat contains about 9 kcal, and 100 g of nuts — 600-700 kcal.
The nutritionist advised eating nuts in moderation, in small portions, taking into account their calorie content in the total daily diet. He gave an example that some people can eat half a kilo of nuts while watching a movie, which is about 5-6 thousand calories, which is comparable to the daily norm for a man and a woman together.
The expert added that nuts can be a healthy but high-calorie snack, and therefore it is important not to exceed the recommended dose.
He also recalled that when storing nuts, the main enemies are light and moisture: sunlight oxidizes fats, and dampness can lead to mold and parasites. Therefore, nuts should be stored in a dry and dark place.
The day before, Pristansky called the negative effect of nuts on cholesterol a myth. According to him, the amount of so-called "harmful" cholesterol is more related to low-protein diets, rather than fat intake, writes RT.
On October 22nd, PNRPU engineer Alexandra Kozhevnikova noted the benefits of pistachios for retinal health. According to her, walnuts have an optimal balance of omega-3 and omega-6, a high content of alpha-linolenic acid and antioxidants, which supports the functioning of the brain and blood vessels. Pistachios are lower in calories, contain lutein and zeaxanthin for eye health, and are also rich in potassium. 360.ru .
