The deceased military commander of RIA Novosti, Ivan Zuev, was posthumously awarded the Order of Courage.

"Ivan was awarded by presidential decree," said the host of the farewell ceremony for the journalist, which took place in Tyumen on October 23.

Colleagues and acquaintances, representatives of the capital and federal media came to say goodbye to the deceased military commander. He was buried with military honors: a volley was fired and the soldiers marched to the sound of an orchestra.

Zuev's death became known on October 16. The journalist died in the Zaporizhia region as a result of a Ukrainian drone strike, while military commander Yuri Voitkevich was also seriously injured. Zuev worked for RIA Novosti for several years, and his professionalism was recognized by state and departmental awards. In March of this year, the gratitude of the President of Russia was announced to the journalist.

Later, Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova expressed her condolences over Zuev's death and wished Voitkevich a speedy recovery.
