US President Donald Trump has confirmed his intention to visit the Gaza Strip as part of the American plan to resolve the Palestinian-Israeli conflict. He made a corresponding statement on October 23 in an interview with Time magazine.

"Yes, I will go," Trump replied when asked about a possible visit to the Gaza Strip.

According to the plan presented earlier by the American administration, the Gaza Strip should be placed under external control for a transitional period, the newspaper writes.

It is noted that the Trump-led "Peace Council", which will include former British Prime Minister Tony Blair, will have significant powers in the Middle East. In an interview, the American leader described the future body as "a very influential group of people."

The specific dates of the visit and the details of the council's composition have not yet been announced.

On October 13, Trump announced the end of the war in the Gaza Strip and the release of Israeli hostages by the Hamas movement. Later, at the Sharm el-Sheikh summit, representatives of Egypt, the United States, Qatar and Turkey signed an agreement to end the conflict in the Gaza Strip.

On October 19, the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) announced that it was launching a series of strikes against Hamas targets in the southern Gaza Strip in response to the movement's violation of the truce. Later, the IDF resumed observing the ceasefire in the sector.

On October 20, the American leader confirmed that the ceasefire agreement between Israel and Hamas remains in force. At the same time, he noted that Hamas is behaving "quite violently." On the same day, the Axios portal reported that the United States intends to strengthen control over the observance of the ceasefire in the Gaza Strip.
