The Murmansk region was recognized as one of the most reading regions in Russia
The Murmansk Region has become the winner of the "The Most Reading Region" competition. 89 subjects participated in it. As an application, it was necessary to present initiatives in the field of popularization of reading and the development of the library community.
Bi-port news agency, with reference to the regional Ministry of Culture, writes that the Arctic region got into the top three thanks to the project "In the North — read!". The aim of the initiative is to create open spaces in municipalities for reading and exploring literature.
The project is aimed at young people and family audiences, children and the elderly, and people with disabilities. Literary creativity is encouraged through awards and competitions.
The leaders in this category were also recognized by the Kursk region, which was awarded the title of "Literary Flagship of Russia", and the Arkhangelsk Region, which was recognized as the "Territory of Books and Reading".
The winners of the competition will be celebrated in Moscow at the end of 2025.
Earlier it was reported that the book "Northern Floriculture" became the winner of the Book of the Year contest held in the Murmansk region. The authors of the work are a team of researchers from the Polar Alpine Botanical Garden—Institute named after Aurorin. This regional competition is a large-scale project aimed at supporting publishing activities and popularizing the best works of authors of the Arctic.
