Over the past 24 hours, 295 road accidents have occurred on Russian roads, in which 41 people were killed and 352 injured. This was reported to Izvestia on October 23 by the State Traffic Inspectorate of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia.
As a result of 107 accidents involving pedestrians, 13 people were killed, and 94 more were injured in various degrees of severity. Among the injured are 17 children, five of whom were injured at pedestrian crossings, and seven were injured outside the pedestrian crossing.
Of the total number of pedestrian incidents, 54 occurred at pedestrian crossings and 53 outside their area of operation. In addition, 32 accidents involving minors were registered on Russian roads over the past day, as a result of which 34 young road users were injured, including 11 passengers, three cyclists and two motor transport drivers.
19 accidents involving buses were recorded, in which three people were killed and 23 road users, including two minors, required medical attention. The reason for nine bus accidents was a violation of traffic rules by their drivers.
In the Khanty-Mansiysk Autonomous Okrug, on the 867th km of the federal highway R-404 Tyumen - Tobolsk — Khanty—Mansiysk, a 32-year-old bus driver did not take into account the road conditions in the rain, drove off the road and overturned. As a result of the accident, two bus passengers were killed, the driver and four passengers were injured and were hospitalized in medical institutions.
The State Traffic Inspectorate reminds bus drivers that the lives and health of the passengers they transport depend entirely on the level of professionalism, experience, well-being and compliance with traffic rules. It is the drivers who are responsible for the people in the vehicle, the department emphasizes.
"Before starting a work shift, it is necessary to be rested and healthy, as well as carefully check the technical condition of the bus before leaving the route. When performing intercity, intercity and inter-regional flights, bus drivers must strictly observe the speed limit and traffic regulations. Special attention should be paid to road markings, signs and traffic lights," said Police Colonel Sergey Hrantskevich, head of the Department for Road Safety Promotion and Prevention of Child traffic Injuries at the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Russian Federation.
Earlier it became known that a regular bus flew into a ditch in the south of the Krasnoyarsk Territory, eight people were injured in an accident. According to preliminary data, the bus driver lost control. The prosecutor's office organized an investigation into the accident.
