Tourist tax may appear in Chita from 2026
Chita may introduce a tourist tax from January 1, 2026. The issue of its implementation was discussed at a meeting of the Committee on Budget, Financial and Tax Policy.
The text of the draft decision states that the tax rate will be increased in stages. In 2026, it will amount to 1% of the tax base, in 2027 — 2%, in 2028 — 3%, in 2029 — 4%, and from 2030 — 5%.
According to Zabaikalkraystat, there are 32 hotels operating in the territory of the regional center, in which 383,632 overnight stays were recorded. The authorities have estimated that the introduction of a tourist tax will lead to an increase in the revenue side of the budget by 15 million rubles as early as 2026.
According to the ChitaMedia news agency, after reviewing the documentation, the deputies proposed to bring this issue up for discussion at a meeting of the City Duma.
Earlier it was reported that last summer an experiment on the legalization of guest houses was launched in Russia — individual residential buildings hosting tourists receive official status for the first time. The law is designed to bring the market out of the shadows, improve the quality of services and ensure a balance of interests of owners, neighbors and the state.
