The Ethics and Discipline Committee of the International Chess Federation (FIDE) will consider the statements of Grandmaster Vladimir Kramnik about the death of American chess player Daniel Naroditsky. This was announced by FIDE President Arkady Dvorkovich on October 22.

"Recently, public debates in the chess world have too often gone beyond the bounds of what is acceptable, harming not only people's reputation, but also their well-being. <...> In this regard, I, together with the FIDE administration, will officially transfer all relevant public statements made by Grandmaster Vladimir Kramnik <...> to the Ethics and Discipline Committee for independent review," the statement said.

He also confirmed that the committee will take all appropriate measures in case of disrespect in the chess community. In addition, he called for ethical standards to be observed so that "sport remains a space of honesty, respect and humanity — values that should always prevail over hostility and disagreement."

On October 22, FIDE CEO Emil Sutovsky said that the reaction of former world champion Vladimir Kramnik to the death of American grandmaster and commentator Daniel Naroditsky was outrageous and shameful.

On October 20, FIDE announced Naroditsky's death. The federation emphasized that the American was a talented chess player, commentator and teacher. He represented the United States at the World Team Championships in 2015 and took first place at the National Masters Championships in 2019.
