A comprehensive restoration of the Central Moscow Hippodrome on Begovaya Street is actively underway in Moscow. This was announced by the Mayor of the capital, Sergei Sobyanin, on Wednesday, October 22.
He stressed that after the completion of the work, the historical appearance of the main building will be restored, the capacity of the stands will almost double, and the Museum of the history of the racetrack and horse breeding of Russia will expand sixfold. It is also planned to reopen the historic restaurant, according to NSN.
Special attention will be paid to the creation of a modern stable yard with stables for racehorses and racehorses, bleachers, a veterinary unit, a guest stable and a hostel for participants of the competition, the website writes. kp.ru .
In addition, restoration of the gate pylons with equestrian sculptures at the entrance from Leningradsky Prospekt and landscaping of the square in front of the main building are planned, the Moscow City News Agency reports. The mayor expressed confidence that the renovated racetrack will become a new attractive public space. The renovation work is scheduled to be completed in 2026.
The Central Moscow Hippodrome was founded in 1834 and is the oldest trotting racetrack in Russia and the world. The modern look of the complex was formed in the 1950s.
