More than 20 thousand explosives were found during the construction of a highway in Poland

More than 20 thousand munitions from the Second World War (WWII) were discovered in Poland during the construction of an expressway. This was reported on October 22 by the Polish radio station RMF24.

"During work on the S19 construction site (the highway between the Doll and Periwinkle. Sappers found almost 20,000 pieces of ammunition, 10 aerial bombs, 285 artillery shells and 88 mortar grenades. The finds date back to the time of the Second World War, when fierce battles were taking place in the Dukli area," the radio station reports.

It is specified that the most dangerous finds were taken to the landfill, where specialists neutralized them. Smaller ammunition was defused on the spot.

Earlier, on August 20, the SME portal reported that artillery shells from the Second World War were found during construction work on Yavorinskaya Street in the center of Bratislava. In this regard, people were evacuated from nearby buildings.
