German police accidentally opened fire on soldiers of the Bundeswehr (German Army) during exercises in the Bavarian city of Erding, one soldier was injured. This was reported by the Bild newspaper on October 22, citing sources.

"When the police arrived at the scene, the military apparently decided that this was part of an exercise and opened fire on them with training rounds. The police, mistaking the situation for a real threat, responded with live ammunition and wounded one Bundeswehr soldier," the publication says.

According to Bild, the military was conducting a large-scale Marshal Power 2025 exercise involving about 500 soldiers when locals reported "armed men in masks." The police arrived, unaware of the exercises, mistook the practice shooting for a real attack and responded with live ammunition. The soldier who suffered from the actions of law enforcement officers was tangentially wounded in the face, his life is not in danger. It remains unknown why the police were not warned about the military exercises.

The newspaper notes that the Marshal Power 2025 exercises are considered one of the most difficult exercises of the German military police in recent years.

Earlier in the day, it was reported that several people were injured in a shootout that took place in the German city of Hanover. According to the publication Hannoversche Allgemeine, the incident occurred on Wednesday evening at about 18:25 local time (19:25 Moscow time), October 22, on Farenwalder Strasse. There was a clash between two groups of people with the use of firearms.
