Chinese hypercar sets new Nurburgring record
The Yangwang U9 Xtreme became the fastest mass-produced electric vehicle in the Northern Loop, completing it in less than seven minutes. This is reported in a statement by the Chinese company BYD, which produces this model.
German pilot Moritz Krantz, driving a U9 Xtreme, drove the Northern Loop for 6 minutes and 59.157 seconds.
The U9 Xtreme modification develops a power output of 3019 hp versus 1306 hp for the base hypercar. It is built on a 1200-volt electrical architecture with an enhanced cooling system. Four electric motors are capable of spinning up to 30,000 rpm, each developing 755 hp. Specially welded Giti tires have been prepared for the U9 Xtreme, capable of withstanding speeds of more than 500 km/h.
The previous record holder Xiaomi SU7 Ultra drove the track in 7 minutes and 04.957 seconds. The result of the Xiaomi SU7 prototype at 6:22 minutes remains unsurpassed so far. The fastest production car at Nordschleife remains the Mercedes AMG One, which passed the "Green Hell" in 6:29,090.
