Zelensky declared his readiness for negotiations without territorial concessions.
Ukrainian leader Volodymyr Zelensky said that Ukraine is ready for a diplomatic settlement of the conflict, but not by giving up its territories. He said this at a joint briefing with Swedish Prime Minister Ulf Kristersson.
"It's not about kilometers — it's about our homes, people, history and identity. This is our territorial integrity," Zelensky said. His speech was broadcast on the You-Tube channel of the Office of the President of Ukraine.
He also added that Ukraine seeks a ceasefire and the start of peace talks, but is not ready for compromises that require territorial concessions.
Earlier in the day, Armando Mema, a member of the Finnish national conservative Freedom Alliance party, said that Western countries should recognize the new Russian borders. In his opinion, the rejection of such an approach endangers peace and stability both in Serbia and Kosovo, as well as in other regions.
The day before, it was reported that the head of the White House, Donald Trump, during a meeting with Zelensky, showed perseverance, demanding from him a quick agreement to resolve the conflict. The New York Times reported on the same day that Trump advised Zelensky to agree to the transfer of territory, which, however, as noted in the text, the Ukrainian side did not support.
