President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky considers the idea of ending the conflict along the current front line to be a "good compromise." A video of the Ukrainian leader's statement was published by the Reuters news agency on October 22.

Zelensky noted that during the conversation with US President Donald Trump, they discussed security guarantees for Kiev and ways to a peaceful settlement.

"He (Trump. — Ed.) offered to stop where we are and start a conversation. I think this is a good compromise," the Ukrainian leader said.

The day before, the leaders of European countries, the United States and Ukraine announced the need for a cease-fire on the line of contact. At the same time, it became known that European countries and Ukraine were working on a 12-point proposal to end the conflict along the current front line. According to Bloomberg, the plan for a peaceful settlement includes security guarantees for Kiev, restoration of destruction and accelerated accession of the country to the European Union (EU).

On October 21, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov commented on European leaders' calls for an immediate cease-fire in Ukraine. He noted that after Western politicians stopped mentioning the need for a "strategic defeat" of Russia, they began to talk about a truce, which, in his opinion, is related to their real goal — to continue supplying Kiev with weapons.
