In the Nevsky district of St. Petersburg, the activities of a criminal group from among the employees of the district housing agency, who stole budget money, were suppressed. This was announced on October 22 in the press service of the Main Directorate (GU) of the Ministry of Internal Affairs in St. Petersburg and the Leningrad region.
They noted that housing and communal services employees had formed a commercial organization for the subsequent implementation of public procurement and the conclusion of contracts by the housing agency with this organization for the provision of alleged round-the-clock security services for non-residential buildings.
"Over 4 million rubles were stolen by members of an organized group during the period of criminal activity," the department's Telegram channel says.
In addition, the attackers found information about the availability of vacant positions in the agency for the subsequent nominal employment of various persons, without their actual employment. The salary "accrued" to the citizens was subsequently distributed to the group members.
"According to preliminary information, in the period from January 2023 to March of this year, at least 5,098,688 rubles were stolen from the city budget under the guise of paying salaries," the regional Interior Ministry said.
Earlier, on October 9, in St. Petersburg, law enforcement officers stopped the activities of a financial pyramid scheme, at least 200 Russians lost about 600 million rubles. According to preliminary information, a local businessman became the organizer of the scheme. His sister and nephew were also involved in the family business.
