The International Court of Justice in The Hague said that Israel is obliged to provide for the basic needs of the Palestinian population. A corresponding statement was made by the Chairman of the court, Yuji Iwasawa, on October 22.

"Israel has an obligation to provide for the basic needs of the local population, including supplies needed to supply them," the Anadolu agency quoted him as saying.

The Court pointed out that Israel's obligations in this area are enshrined in Article 59 of the Fourth Geneva Convention.

The advisory opinion was prepared based on the results of the meetings where the issues of Israel's obligations regarding the presence of international organizations in the Palestinian territories were considered.

Earlier, on October 21, Vance stated the need for each country to participate in the reconstruction of Gaza. According to him, this role may be related to diplomatic activities aimed at interacting with various parties to ensure the implementation of peace agreements and their viability.

On October 14, Special Representative of the head of the United Nations Development Program, Jaco Silliers, said that $70 billion would most likely be needed for the reconstruction of the Gaza Strip. In turn, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said on October 16 that the truce in Gaza should be sustainable so that the reconstruction of the enclave's infrastructure could begin.

On October 13, US President Donald Trump announced his intention to help the Gaza Strip develop economically, including restoring stability and security.
