The US nuclear arsenal remains safe despite the shutdown. This was announced on October 22 by the country's Energy Minister Chris Wright.

"Our nuclear arsenal is safe today. We will never compromise on this issue. These people work without getting paid, but we ensure the safety and security of our arsenal today," he said on Fox News.

At the same time, he pointed out that the shutdown slowed down the modernization of the United States' nuclear arsenal.

Earlier, on October 16, the head of the Ministry of Energy said that about 100,000 contractors upgrading the US nuclear arsenal could be left without payment due to the shutdown. Later, CNN reported that the vast majority of employees of the federal agency for the supervision of the nuclear potential of the United States will be sent on leave at their own expense amid the ongoing government shutdown.

In the United States, on October 1, the government was suspended. Because of this, non-authorized personnel of federal agencies will be forcibly sent on unpaid leave. At the same time, some will continue to perform their work duties without a salary.
