A Memorandum of Understanding was signed in Beijing on October 22 between the Secretariat of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) and the Roscongress Foundation.

The document was signed by SCO Secretary General Nurlan Yermekbayev and Chairman of the Board of the Foundation Alexander Stuglev in the presence of Adviser to the President of the Russian Federation Anton Kobyakov.

"This document is an important step in the implementation of the Russian Foreign Policy Concept approved by President Vladimir Putin," Kobyakov said. He stressed that the agreement opens up new opportunities for economic cooperation between the organization's member states.

"We highly appreciate the unique experience and expertise of the Foundation in organizing large—scale international events," Yermekbayev added.

According to him, joint work will become a tool for promoting investment opportunities in the participating countries.

The document provides for cooperation in organizing international business events, including forums and conferences, as well as joint preparation of analytical materials with the Russian Foreign Ministry. The signing of the memorandum took place in accordance with the instructions of the SCO Council of Heads of State following the summit in Tianjin.

During the plenary session of the XXII annual meeting of the Valdai International Discussion Club, Russian President Vladimir Putin expressed the opinion that many international platforms have lost their meaning and degraded. He noted that the Russian Federation has come to the need to create institutions where issues are resolved on the basis of consensus and coordination of positions, which is how the SCO arose.
