In the Trans-Baikal Territory, the incidence of chickenpox has decreased by 12.7% since the beginning of 2025. In nine months, 4,842 cases were registered. These are the data from the regional department of Rospotrebnadzor.

More than 93% of the cases are children and adolescents under 17 years of age. The highest rates are recorded among children aged three to six years.

According to Anna Dorozhkova, head of the Epidemiological Surveillance Department of the department, quoted by ChitaMedia news agency, chickenpox vaccination is not included in the National Calendar of Preventive Vaccinations. It is not included in the list of mandatory vaccinations.

In mid-October, it was reported that in 2025, the incidence of chickenpox in the Jewish Autonomous Region has tripled. Preventive vaccinations against the disease are carried out in the region free of charge. A little more than 800 people got sick. For comparison, in 2024, chickenpox was diagnosed in more than 2.5 thousand residents of the region. The reduction in morbidity is associated with the active immunization of young residents of the region.
