Details about the new Volga crossover have become known
The new model of the revived Volga brand will be a crossover based on the Chinese model Geely Boyue L/Atlas L. This was reported by the website "Chinese Cars" on October 22.
Earlier, the Telegram channel TAGAZ: Autojournal shared a short video of a crossover with Volga nameplates standing on a car carrier. In this car, "Chinese Cars" identified the Geely Boyue L crossover, also known as Atlas L, which began selling in China only in May of this year. The company itself positions this model as a completely new, fourth generation Altas.
The crossover is built on the same SMA platform as the third-generation Altas introduced in Russia. The car is larger than its predecessor, 4730×1910×1710 mm, and its design is based on the brand's new concept, officially called "the charm of mountains and rivers."
In China, the Atlas L is offered with a 1.5-liter turbo engine (181 hp and 290 Nm), or a 2-liter supercharged unit (218 hp and 325 Nm). A 7-speed robotic gearbox is available as a transmission, and the car's drive is exclusively front-wheel drive.
The line of cars of the revived Volga brand was presented to the Prime Minister of the Russian Federation Mikhail Mishustin on May 21 last year and was based on Changan cars. All models received a gasoline engine with a capacity of 188 hp (300 Nm) in conjunction with a seven-speed automatic. They never went on sale. In the spring of 2025, Passenger Car Manufacturing JSC announced that it was continuing to work on a project to produce a new Volga car.
On September 2, it was reported that cars of the revived Volga brand are being created in collaboration with Geely. According to an insider, a Volga office will open in Moscow, and employees have already been recruited. A presentation of the project will also take place soon.
